As an associate with the law firm of Knox, Brotherton, Knox & Godfrey, J. Brad Champion has practiced law in Lincoln County for over twelve years.  

The primary focus of his practice has always been litigation.  Brad’s practice includes weekly appearances in our local District Courtrooms handling family law and criminal matters, the primary responsibilities of a District Court Judge.  

His extensive experience with our District Attorney’s office and local attorneys, along with regular weekly appearances in our local courts are the proper background for the work of a District Court Judge in District 27B.

Brad is a native of North Carolina, and lives in Lincoln County with his wife and daughter.  He received his Juris Doctorate from Georgia State University College of Law, in Atlanta, Georgia after completing a Master’s Degree in Philosophy at Georgia State University; and completed undergraduate studies at UNC-Charlotte (Bachelor’s degree, Political Science/Philosophy) and Appalachian State University (Bachelor’s degree, Criminal Justice).  Brad was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 2006 and the North Carolina State Bar in 2007.  

He is a current member of the North Carolina State Bar and the North Carolina Advocates for Justice and active in the Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce.
